well im in the process of upgrading my fish tanks and making sure i have the correct stocking. well me and my mom just had an argument cuzz she says "no more tanks" "i refuse to live in a fishstore" :grr:  :S

anyway heres all the tanks i plan to have once im done upgrading and all:

29 South American community: 1 angel fish, 1 pair bolivian rams, 3 albino corries, 3 peppered corries, 5 ottos, and 9 black phantom tetras

29 gal asian community: 1 gold 3-spot gourami, 11 harliquins, 1 rainbow shark(or albino rainbow), and 3 bamboo shrimp

29 gal mbuna: 5 yellow labs

29 gal coldwater(will have fvery strong filtration): 3 dojo loaches, 1 shubunkin goldfish, and 1 sarasa commet golfish

10 gal: 1 pair of kribs

10 gal: 1 pair of german blue rams

10 gal: 1 pair of Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlids(Apistogramma cacatuoides "triple red")

5 gal: 3 dwarf puffers and some ghost shrimp

(5) 1 gal with 1 betta each

10 gal nano reef: 1 neon pseudochromis, 1 true percula clownfish, cleaning crew(1 skunk cleaner shrimp, 1 arrow crab, 3 atrea snails, 3 nassarious snails, 1 turbo snail, 3 hermit crabs), 1 feather duster, various corals(maybe adding more inverts to the list, not sure though)

yes MAJOR case of MTS

so basically if i listen to my mom i cant upgrade my goldifsh or mbuna tank which is bad for the fish and i cant make them happy or get the german blue rams or the apistos(they are going in the goldfish and mbuna tank once they are empty). what do i do????

I see your point, but... well, you do have a lot of tanks, like Sam said. And I think you are putting a bit of unfair pressure on your mum.

I think she should allow you to upgrade your fish so they are happy but don't give her a hard time if she won't let you buy more fish.

I'm assuming she pays for the house and therefore she has the right to say 'no'. Just because you like fish doesn't mean she has to. ;)

If i were you i'd cut down as many tanks as posible and move whatever fish that aern't currently together, together if you can- you can then upgrade to a larger tank on the whole and still save space.

Hi fish keeper2,

I can see your mum's point, that is a lot of tanks. As a mum it is sometimes hard to say no but if it is her that owns the house , pays the bill and also ultimatly responable for the well being of the fish while they are in her house, she has the right to say no.

Is there a way you could compromise? Maybe do what tokis-phoenix suggests and merge tanks. You could then have more fish but less tanks.

Don't forget that one day yo0u will have your own home and then, well you can have as many tanks as you have space and money. Til then keep on her good side and try to accomodate her needs as well.

God I sound like my mother!!!!!!Must be getting old.

Keep us posted and try not to fall out with your mum

Tell your mom that you will do good in school if you get another tank but you really have to do it lol (if your still studying)

Although if you didn't want bigger tanks, you could always get a job -if you haven't already and pay her money towards the electric bills etc. That kept my mum happy till I moved out.

just a note - you cant keep 3 dwarf puffers in a 5G so there..thats 1 tank gone!

I want to get a job soon (I am a sophmore in high), but there are very few places by me that I can get a job at, at my age anyways, I might have to wait till summer, when I turn 16. lol :D

good points guys. see my profile for all the fish/tanks i already have. i do have a job and pay for all of the stuff i need myself and even give my mom money to pay for teh water and electricity i use, along wit hgass money for her taking me to go to lfs. im already doin good in school. all As and Bs and im even graudating a year early. i would combine my tanks in large tank but 29 gal is pretty much the biggest i can get. i dont think i can get 55 into my moms car. she does like fish just not as much as me. she is always comming in my room and watching my fish. btw most of thes tank are in my room anyways so she only sees them when hse comes in my room.

BOD-i disagree. dps are individuals. so far i havent had any issues with my dps. all 3 have been together for 2 months now with no issues.

DP's are also changeable. You seen Sir M's picture of what a 1" DP does to a 2" tetra overnight when it decided it doesn't like it? Preetty nasty :/

i know. ive seen that pic too. im always keeping a close eye on my dps and as soon as i see behavior that could lead to death of one of them i will seperate them.

Tell her you want to be a Marine Biologist and this is your research material for college. With your research you might even get a GRANT or something. :hyper:
