How To Breed Platys

well i think my title tells all any advice im prepered to go full out to breed them

i just love to see the fry grow up and breed them sleves

They will mate readily and if you buy females from lfs were males and females are kept together they will almost definately be pregnant. They will then give birth after about 4 weeks. The amount of fry born varies between each fish. But you do have to be wary of inbreeding. Platys can also crossbreed with platys I think.

Platy's are almost identical to Swordtail's. If you keep them together( im assuming you are, prior to other thread) they will interbreed, casuing some weird, and pretty babies. Their keep is almost the smae as sowrdtail's, just you might be able to fit 6 in a 10 gallon, istead of 5. Also, if you want to brred them, i highly suggest getting a breeder tank. And 1 for rasiing fry.
