I have three bronze cories for about 10 months and have no idea when they are about to spawn. Any help or suggestions or pictures will be great!!! Thanks Guys and gals
Corys breed when they are ready which isn't always related to age. With bronze corys they often spawn early and if yours are a good size and have been well fed, they might spawn at any time.
Do you have at least one female and one male in your group? If so, look for eggs on the glass. This is often the first indication that they are ready. Once they begin spawning they will most likely do it again soon.
Eggs look like this:
If your corys live in a community tank, the eggs might be eaten by the other fish, so keep a close watch out for them. Or, if you think yours might be ready to spawn, you can set up a breeding tank for them, feed them lots of live and frozen foods to condition them and try encouraging them to spawn by lowering the temperature slightly. This will often be enough to get them started.
These pictures show one of my female bronze cories just before she started spawning, she could barely eat because she was so big and round This was about 4-5 weeks ago and she has spawned several times since then but she does tend to eat the eggs whilst cleaning to make space on the glass for her next batch So I have been removing the eggs and raising the fry in a seperate tank.
