How To Become A Registered Breeder?

They probably mean like a fish supplier like JMC. Good luck with your plans though :good:

JMC supply fish for some pet stores and chains. They are a wholesaler, so sell fish in big quantities and not generally to the public.

I have bred many varieties of fish over the years, but have never heard of anyone needing to be registered, at least not in the UK. I was a member of the British Cichlid Associasion, they kept records of which species were being bred by members, so it was easy to locate breeding stock.
In addition, I was also a member (club secretary) of my local aquarists society - were I built up a reputation amongst members & people on the showing circuit. I suggest you find local clubs (or online associations ) & take it from there. Many societies have classifieds ads, where breeders can sell on surplus stock.

Hope this helps, good luck :good:

JMC are a wholesaler. They buy their fish from nurseries and large scale breeders.

They might have meant that you have to be registered as a business.

ok, well i dont have any plans on becoming a wholesale supplier  so i guess i'll find out where my local fish group is and take it from there. thanks :good:

You should try and breed some L-number Pleco's as that is where you could make yourself some decent cash.
Cory's are becoming higher priced aswell, so try and breed yourself some rarer Cory's
Livebearers are easy for people to get hold of so will only bring in a low price, if any.

If you send me a sample of your corys say about 8, I will put them in my tank and watch them for a few years then I`ll send you a honest appraisal

Hi there,

What they mean is registering as a business, with liability insurance etc.

You can do this, if your in the UK check out the Prince of Wales fund or similar.
