How soon are you able to sex Endlers? i have six fry about a week & a half old give or take a couple of days, they are now breaking cover & are happy to spend time out in the middle of the tank, to me they all look like females. Is it too soon to tell if there is any males when does their adult colour show?

I've never had endlers but my guppies took alot longer than that for there colours so show it was at least a month maybe 6 weeks then one which i thought was a female as they others already had there male colours turned male and but just got his colours a lot later than everyone else. Notsure if it's the same for endlers but hope it helps also the other livebearers platies etc they take a while for there anal fins to take male or female form so it mite be the same with these

Cheers all

Does any one know how many fry is usual per female?
i know that :D about 15 to 20 in young ones and rarely above 30 in full grown ones according to websites. I got a pregnant endler atm who is young so i'll tell you how many i get with her in a pm.

Also, i can normally tell the sex of guppies after about 3 weeks 2bh. I dont look at colours, i look at the fins. I got a baby endler in my tank which came free from my lfs it was apparently 2 weeks old. I sexed it as a female straight away and it was.

BTW i fed it loads of baby brine shrimp and its grown like wildfire! Its also in the main tank with the rest of them

Cheers Neo i have six fry so i thought i'd probaly lost some, i missed the birth & these are all i could find when looking through the water lettuce i put in for cover. i'll keep a closer eye on them next time.

Just an update, right they're about a month old now & the colours are starting to develop it would appear i have five male 1 female. To prevent breeding i want seperate the sexes if i've understood rightly what i've read is that a group of females on their own would be ok but a batchelor group would fight amongst them selves is this right? & if so would two males in the same tank be ok if they had room to avoid one another?
