I set up a new 260L tank on Monday, it is a Juwel with an internal filter. I have added dechlorinator, filter boost, plant food, etc. and put lots of new plants and bogwood in it. I intend to move all my fish out of the 120L into the new tank so my son can have the old one for his goldfish. I am also going to use my Fluval 240 external filter to boost the Juwel internal one. I will move my plants and bogwood out of the old tank but have put new gravel in because it was going to be very difficult to move the gravel with the fish still in the tank. My fluval filter is mature so I am hoping and worst I only get a mini cycle. When will it be safe to move the fish? :)

I'm not 100% sure but if you have a mature filter, hook that up to it and you should be able to put fish in straight away.

I just set up a tank with a mature filter (made sure the filter wasn't out of a tank for over 12 hrs) and put fish in as soon as the water had got to the right temp, did a few water tests and it all seemed Ok so i took a chance. They've been in nearly a week now and all seem healthy and happy, had no issues.

Not sure if it's the same if you have a mature and an immature (is that the right way of putting it?!?) filter running at the same time.... if the new filter is cycling it might affect the tank.... really don't know though.

well the fluvals a little small for the bigger tank but aslong as you dont add anymore fish for a lil while so the bio load stays the same then the filter should still be able to handle it.

i think thats how it works.

other option is to take some of the media out the fluval and put it in the jewel but i dont have an external, only a jewel so i dont kno what the medias like in the 204.
