Searching Lake Ontario for tropical fish...No luck
One of my family's friends always buys used tanks. I decided to buy one of him and it was full of lime. He said to get it off, just use CLR, and then let the tank sit for 12 hours and it will evaporate into the air...So I did this, the tank is cleaned, and now I have an old Dynaflow filter and an air pump running to increase surface aggitation. I have given mine 24 hours. I am a little worried to hook up my Pengiun because Im afraid the CLR will not evaporate and will stick in the filter and kill my fish.

Anyone have any suggestions? Am I safe now that its been up and running for 24 hours or should I just do a full water change? Please no guesses, this is an important topic! ;)

I have used CLR without a problem in the past. I always rinse it off really well though, rather then let it dry on its own. If you are doubful then by all means do a full water change or two to make sure, better safe then sorry.

I used CLR to get rid of the lime on my 30 g when I first bought it. After scrubbing with CLR and a rough sponge, I then rinsed it really well with the garden hose. I added fish a few months later and the fish were absolutly fine.

Well I'm sure that you won't have to wait that long. I did because I knew that there was going to be a fish sale at my lfs so I decided to wait and let it cyle a little longer than usual... no worries :)
