How readily do platies breed?

Do platies breed as redily as guppies? My guppies have had 2 batches of fry and my platies have yet to have any...They are in different tanks, but the water conditions are the same. Well, other than the fact that the guppy tank has ich (which I don't think aids the breeding process )

Yes they are both extremely easy to breed. Just keep the water quality good and feed them and they'll do the rest!! Platies are less obvious when they are just about to give birth so make sure that the young aren't simply being eaten!

Hmm..I hadn't considered that. The platies were rather vicious with my 3 week old guppy fry. I had to evacuate them before they were all eaten!

pltys are the same as guppies except they take a little longer around another week, however the main difference is that platys seem to be colour dependant, so if you have a dark and a light platy then they wont breed as much if at all compared to the same colour platy
