I'm restocking a 20 gallon tank with guppies. it's been running several years and I think the others just died of old age no sign of disease. it was down to just one guppy. I added two more two days ago and they seem fine. ammonia is zero so far. when can i add more fish and how many male guppies are ok in a 20 gallon?
Any suggestions for any other fish that would happily tank share would also be great.

Thanks!

In such a mature tank you would probably be able to add the full stock load instantly, the filter wouldn't take long to accumulate the bacteria to cope with the bioload...however that isn't good practice so adding a couple a week untill you are happy with numbers is probably best.

As to the amount you can have, that will depend on filter volume, and correct m/f ratio but for me 20+ would suit well.... as to fish, there are many, most standard community fish will work... platies, mollies, swords, neon's etc.... it will just depend on what takes your fancy at the time i guess :)
