so im still trying to learn everything. so how often do you guys suggest testing fish water for my goldfish tank and my betta tank?

I'm assuming you've cycled both tanks?

If so, once a week might be an idea, before and after water changes.

If you aren't fully cycled, then you need to be testing every day, so you know whether you need to do a water change.

Once you are cycled, once a week is fine to start off with. When you add new fish, test daily for a few days to check there are no spikes.

ok thanks for the help..

If you're new to fishkeeping, once per week seems to work well (edit: after cycle is complete and stable for a month or two), then drop off as you get more experience and your water remains stable. Test if there are any visible problems, of course.
