Once my tank settled down and been going for a couple of months, how often should i do a water change ? tank is 23 gallons.

thanks lee

moderatly stocked tank... i would do 20% a week

i do about 30% twice or more week on my tanks. you cant do enough water changes (unless a heavily planted tank)

I'd say a 50% water change once a week, or a 25% water change 2 times a week ... as you have probably noticed, it really depends on the person and how big the tank is etc ;) ... I'd say stick with once a week and you'll see if it needs cleaning more often or not

I do about 60% water changes every week, a little more when I think the tank may have a problem, or is unusually cloudy. Although both my tanks are fairly small (10 and 29 gallon [38 and 110 liters]). Although when I get my 75 gallon (280L) set up, I don't think I will do as excessive as a change.

I change the water in my 46 gallon bowfront about 40-50% weekly.

About 20-25% once or twice a week, depends on amount of poop and stuff on the floor and algae growth and water readings and if I'm picking snails out.

Want it at 25% once per week.

I do on average around a 30% water change per week but often have to do one mid week because plecs make alot of mess

I never do more than a 30% water change once a week...more than 30% can take away too much important bacteria! -_-
Not really, as most of the bacteria live in the filter media, and that is not affected by big water changes. My philosophy is, the bigger the better, because the cleaner the water the healthier your fish will be.

nuh uh nope not true, you should NEVER do more than a 30% water change weekly or twice weekly maybe, its a known fact common guys

Generally around 40% once a week or so. Depends how my plants are doing..etc

30% a week, more if the tank is small and more densely stocked.

If you are matching the temperature and other water parameters closely to the tank water, you can do larger water changes. You don't need to worry about removing bacteria (as mentioned above) since they don't live in water...
