ok, I'm sure this gets asked A LOT but, how often should a tank be cleaned? My current tank is at the moment filterless(will probably be getting one). Does the number of fish affect how often it gets clean?(I have a Betta and a catfish). Just curious! the tank is. 1 and a 1/2 gallons
Thanks!!!!

How often at the moment do you clean it, or do water changes?
Tbh a 1 & 1/2 gallon is barely big enough for the Betta, what catfish is in it it?

What kind of catfish? There are none that should be kept in a tank that small. I would strongly urge you to rehome him if I were you.
Even the betta deserves a bigger home really, ten gallons ideally.

But in answer to your question, it depends on your stocking as you do water changes to lower nitrates, which are the end product of the nitrigen cycle which starts with fish waste....so it very much depends on the number of fish. An inch per gallon is the accepted rule - then you could probably get away with just once a week, 25% each time would be ok. With two fish in a tiny tank you may need to change at least that much water daily.

Edit: I have just read that your tank is filterless. Your fish will die if you don't do huge daily changes (90%) due to the ammonia present in fish waste which will build up so quickly in a tank that small. Please consider rehoming them if you can't get a bigger tank with a filter. To keep them this way is needlessly cruel.

Filter-less.. You clean it every day. seriously everyday, sometimes twice a day. Absolutely no joke even with one fish..
Your beta could live a mediocre life in that size of tank,SOLO with care.
But even a corrie, who seems small when you get the cutie will out grow the limited space and truly enjoys the companionship of a few ( between 6-8 of the species) ,
there is no catfish that will survive 1.5 gallons for long...NONE that i know of.. NONE

Do you have space for a 10 gallon or larger?
You, as well as your fish (including the beta) will enjoy a larger tank so much more and you will not have to endure the heartbreak you are headed for.
Please ask more questions and re-post as we CAN help you do right for the fish and get you that tank you always wanted..

ok, I am truly sorry!!!! I had no idea! I will get a filter ASAP, at the moment I can not get more catfish but I will look into it (my catfish is acting like a normal fish and seems happy to me. so does my betta)I do have space now for a larger tank, but I can't move them yet. I clean their tank at the moment twice a month, but I can change that. I am not a cruel person I promise!!! I will fix everything ASAP!!!! thanks for the advice

oh yeah, my catfhish is an albino.
