hi,
I was wondering how often the white pad should be changed in a 70 litre jeuwel tank?
It says every week on instructions but I have noticed that mine doesnt go that dirty after a week.
Should I leave it and change it every 2 weeks and just run it through old tank water on a weekly basis??

I have 6 cherry barbs and 4 x rays.

Personly I ran 3 at a time and left them for several weeks, give them a little scrub in an old bucket of tank water here and there if needed :good:

I have never changed mine up to this date. I just give them a good scrub in a bucket of old tank water after water changes. NEVER USE TAP WATER!!!

Thanks for the reply, I think I might only change the white pad if it really gets dirty.
How about the blue, green and black pads? how often do you guys change these??

I never change them. I wash them out once a month in the tank water. :good:

White one - was when it gets dirty, no need to change it until it falls apart.

Others - Same.

If the white one does its job properly, you should hardly ever have to even wash the others, never mind change them.

The black one is usually a carbon sponge. I just threw it away to begin with because eventually it will leach all he stuff it has absorbed back into the water.

The white one i just wash in tank water when it gets dirty and when i wanted to replace it i went out and bought a huge roll of filter floss and cut it up into little squares. 8 x 1 metres x 10cm thick for £4 gives you a lot of little pads.
