I have to fix my sand like every other day because they dig down to the glass and pile the sand up on the viewing glass... how often are you guys fixing it?

I just smooth the sand back out with my net handle every couple of days.....Rocks, fish, and powerhead=scenic scapes very often....

At least every other day - I'm sure they are laughing at me every morning when i put the lights on to see great big sand dunes and exposed glass. 1 day i'll take all the sand out and have the last laugh. :D

haha... looking at that other post in the African Cichlid forum about them being logical... if they were VERY logical don't you think after a couple times of doing all that work they would realize that a big hand always comes in and ruins it! Or maybe it's just they like to **** us off...

I usually sort it out about once a week and bury some of their caves up that are under the rocks. Gives them something to do! :hyper:

Have a video of my Hongi digging the sand up in his mouth and spitting it out in a pile to the side but havent got round to uploading it

i put a power head in every corner so that it keeps the sand even on all sides.it helps but not as good as just puttin my hand in and moving it

Yeah I am thinking about putting a powerhead down low to keep some of the sand off the glass.

it works for sure but as for keepin it in the rocks and stuff, not really

I would have to fix my substrate every morning. I don't though, I think its cool what they do with all the sand. They make caves under sturdy rocks so they have more hiding places :)

Eventually they smooth the substrate back out and start over.

haha Thats what i get from mine too.

Thankfully they don't uproot my small plant and can not up root my large one :) They have tried with no sucess.
