how much to feed?

Hi all,
We have 3 wonderfully active, comical cory cats and 1 USD cat (all very small right now, all less than 2 inches each). They are in a tank with 1 betta, 2 angels and a plec. I am wondering how much to feed them (the catfishes)? It's difficult to know since the USD is very shy and only eats at night with the plec. We have been feeding about 3/4 of an algae tablet (broken in 3 - 4 pieces), 2x day, with the occasional sinking shrimp pellet (just one small one).
Is this too much or not enough?

One trick I read about to enable a night feeding fish to get food is to wait until it's lights out time and then drop abit of food in for it and flick out the lights. The day feeders can't find the food then. Or at least this is the theory and your USD should be able to feed in peace.

I admit I haven't seen my coreys eat the algae tablets at all...but they've got live plants they could eat if needed. They seem happiest grazing along the tank bottom finding whatever they can amongst the gravel.

I have to admit I feed my cory cats 4-5 shrimp pellets twice a day per tank. I have 3 coreys in the 10 gallon, 4 in the 29 gallon. Mind you they've got to be fast off the mark because the guppies LOVE shrimp pellets too and will scarf the lot if the cats don't sit on them quick. Sit on the pellets I mean, not the guppies! So the coreys are only getting a couple of pellets between themselves I think. I just love how they quiver all over with excitement when they find a shrimp pellet!

So if I didn't have guppies that adored shrimp pellets I bet I could get away with feeding the coreys less shrimp pellets and only once a day. Mind you the coreys get to vacuum up any fish flake and cooked pea leftovers that anybody else misses, so they're not exactly starving in any case(which might also explain how my female cories have gotten so honking HUGE...closer to 4 inches than two ). I'll be interested to see what others say!
