I have three brand new otos in my tank :good: I love them, they are adorable little beasts!

I got them on Saturday and I asked the guy in the lfs what they had been eating in the shop, and he sold me some algae tablets (they look like green aspirin  ). But I'm not sure how much to feed them?

Yesterday teatime I put two tablets in, and they totally ignored them. But then I went out for a few hours, and when I got back, the tablets were gone. I didn't see the otos eat, so I don't know if it was them or my platys.

There is some algae in my tank, but it's mostly that hair algae on the plants and they don't seem very interested in it.

How many tablets per day should I put in?

It's the platys eating the algae tablets I think. I fed them an hour ago and only the platys have been pecking at them, the otos haven't noticed them.

I am not an expert but I let food in my tank all of the time for my otos. They have brocoli, cucumber, lettuce, etc on a vegetable clip.

They do not show much interest in the pellets that I use to feed the corydoras catfish.

I have otos and corys. :)

Otos won't eat algae wafers. I feed mine blanched spinach, zucchini, and kale. You just stick some in some water for a minute in microwave. Then attach it to a clip or plant weight. Otos won't eat it right away. They want it to be decaying slightly. Usually overnight is sufficient.

Corys are whole different thing..they'll eat anything I put in the tank. LOL Supposedly they don't like veggies, but...mine sure do hoover them up. LOL

Good Luck with your Otos. :) I Love the little guys, but acclimmating them take forever. I bought 6, and lost 3 after a few weeks. There's nothing wrong with my water or anything, they just don't transport well, from everything I can find online.

had my otto's a few months and they don't seem interested in any veggies, they just eat algee on the tank, plants and suck on the bogwood and they are all thriving

Darkwolf is right. My otos aren't touching the algae pellets. They have also made no discernible difference to the algae on the aquarium, so I'm not sure they're eating at all

They are still swimming around OK and spend most of their time sucked onto the glass, but they haven't removed the green spots on the glass, or eaten the algae on the plants either.

I'm going to put some cucumber or whatever I can find that's green in there tonight, see if they will eat that.

I am worried this isn't going to end well :(

I have had a slice of cucumber in there for 2 days and it's untouched :( They aren't eating a lot of algae either, I think I might have the wrong type for them - I have green spots on the glass, hair algae on the plants, and brown stuff on the rock in the tank.

They are still alive and look OK, but I'm very concerned about them.

Any advice please?

Bumping, still very worried. Cucumber was untouched so I took it out and put more algae wafers in. The last lot had disappeared, but I never saw the ottos eat.

It's been a week and as far as I can tell they haven't eaten anything much.

ive had otos in my tank for over a year and ive never seen them eat any added food. These guys love to eat algae. My tank hasn't got much algae that I can see but there bellies look very full-even fat at times. As long as they don't look skinny are are swimming around and behaving normally I wouldn't worry.
