I dont know the exact amount of how many bags, but with your cories who will love to play around in the sand, I would say you want enough to make atleast a 3/4 to 1" deep bed for them

Ox :good:

I used 3 30kg bags of sand for my Rio300 equivilant, to get a 2 inch deap layer :good: This works out at 0.045 kg per square inch, per inch of deapth you want your substrate at :nod: To work out the weight you require, multiply the length and wideth of the tank together, and then by 0.045 followed by the number of inches of deapth you need. For example, for a Rio 300;

48 inch length, 20inch wideth, wanting a substrate deapth of 2 inches;

48X20X0.045X2=84.2KG

I would recommend Argos play sand. It´s around 2.49 for a 15kg bag, just make sure you rinse it thoroughly before placing it in the tank.

Sorry to necro this thread, I'm looking to put sand in my roma 240 and wondering how much I need. Am I right that you used 30kg for yours? How deep was the substrate layer?
