ive had my 5 gallon dp tank running for about 6 months now and there have been no deaths or problems. it has over an inch of flourite under some gravel and my plants are rooted and spreading. my vals are even hanging in there and i never have had luck with vals. there is a DIY Co2 system which i added a month ago.i have been dosing FLOURISH about once every week...around 1-1.2 ml.

i was wondering is this about right? how long does it take for the dosage to be used up by the plants? also ive been doing them after everywater change. water changes about 20% twice a week. there are cherry shrimp and ottos in there with the dwarf puffer.

so should i add the flourish more? more often? less? less often?

thanks

Firstly, are you experiencing any problems? If not, and if everything is growing nicely then I wouldn't change a thing.

Yea everything is ok...I know there's not enough copper to harm the shrimp..I've just heard people dosing like 3 to 5 ml perday. Does this make a big difference or not a nesesity

It all depends how much light you have over the tank and possibly the plants you are trying to grow.
More light increases the amount of nutrients and CO2 needed.

The lighting is just a 25 watt overhead lamp. So it's actualy a hightech planted. I try to keep it as high above the water as possible and before I had co2 the algae was awful. I know I have a good balance but unfortunatly I don't keep track of the kh or gh...I just keep an eye on the ph to make sure it doesn't change too much

is it a compact fitting liek an energy saver? if so theyre pretty much useless as MOST of the light is wasted!

i dont think its what you said truck...its suppose to have the round regular type bulbs...but yes, in a way...this is one of those very expensive energy saving bulbs and they last like 3 years or something? anyways i know the light comming from it is very good because like i said my algae was unbelievable but now since i have the co2 my plants have grown a lot.

hey good news!!! this has nothing to do with my fert question but i just found out that the bulb is a 14 watt...which puts me at 2.8 watts per gallon. is that not perfect or what?

for the plants im growing

java fern(really spreading)
small amazon swords
spiral vals
moneywort
java moss
also some plant that ill have you guys ID for me...

here it is

EDIT: well i didnt realize how small they were...i dont know why it uploaded them so tiny, its never happened for me before.

could somebody please TRY to ID the plant in the bottom right of the last pic. i know its hard to tell. stupid tiny pictures!
i actualy got it for free a couple months ago and it was tiny...i just let it float in a few diff tanks because it looked neat floating at the surface. it was about an inch then until i rooted it in my 5 gallon and it literaly grew like that over a few days
