How Much Electricity Does It Take

Does a fixture like this one http/www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=ES53124 take up a lot of electricity or does it not take up that much since it's compact fluerescent. My dad thinks it's going to take up a lot of electricity.

Thats nothing.... 36watts, my bulbs are 54watts and i have four of them lol! I can assure your dad that it wont cost much to run at all. I dont pay for my electrical bill in the house so must be not that bad and ive got a 55 gallon.

I didn't think it would use that much, and I think cp bulbs use less anyways. Now the trick is to keep him from seeing exactly how many watts this fixture is, the 55$ price tag will make him flip even though that's nothing compared to what other people here spend

Well, its like a 50watt electrical draw for that fixture. So assuming 10 hours per day and $0.10/kilowatt hour lets work it out. Its basically $0.05 cents per day to run the fixture
