I have a 75 gallons aqaurium with 4 scats all at 12 inches in length. They are in perfect health and currently in marine conditions with an SG of 1.021. They were sold as "Red Scats" as juveniles when I purchased them in the LFS. Surprisingly the red coloration is still pretty prominent. How much (in American currency) would a single 12 inch red scat in perfect health go for? I plan on selling them because my basement is over run with aquariums

The best way to do this is to look on Aquabid, and see what people pay there.

Last year, someone I know got Scatophagus tetracanthus for 45 USD a piece. Red scats aren't as rare as those, though, hence you won't get so much unless you're really lucky. There's also the issue that adult scats (and monos for that matter) tend to be poor travellers compared with the juveniles. Whoever buys them will need to arrange shipping and the two of you need to come to some arrangement about the health of the fish.

Cheers,

Neale

Im not to worried about the travel as they are just going about half a mile up the road to a friend :) Does $20 sound fair for a single scat?
