I have a betta in a 3 gallon tank I'm trying to renovate to his tastes. Can you put salt in that small of a tank? If so, how much?

And also, I know I tank that small for a betta doesn't need a filter.. but what about a bubbler? It's summer, and half the time the temperature is too high in there.. soI definately don't need a heater!

3 gallons is not too small to put salt in. If you buy aquarium salt it should say on the package how much to put in...I can't think off the top of my head, as i just know how much by sight how much to put in for my 1.5 gallon tanks. But the package will tell you specifically how much to use.

As for a bubbler, no you don't need one. Most betta (males for sure) prefer to not have them as it makes a current. It is hard for males to swim with a current because of their fins. And they breath from the surface so they don't need the extra airation that an air stone provides.

Thanks. :good: Another thing.. what's, in your opinion, the best gravel, bottom-coverer thing, etc, for your fishtank? In a 3 gallon, would sand be acceptable?

I don't use anything in my betta tanks. If you are cycling it is fine, but I find it to be more of a hassle than anything else when you don't cycle the tank.

I think sand is fine for bettas though. To answer your question. :)
