I have three female guppies that are just over 4 months old now. For their size they have a little bit of a belly especially compared to some of the other 4 month old female fry i have in a different tank. I already said in another post that i think they may be pregnant bcause of their gravid spot going from pink to black when the light comes on. Anyway, for first time guppy mum's, i was wondering if the pregnacy time is any different and how many fry are expected?

Whn the light is on is when it should be darker IO think you are looking at 2 different things ... The organs and the unfertelized eggs ....it's like shining a light through an egg ............ I'm not trying too be rude but you keep posting with basically the same question and it's like you can't get the word you want

I think your confused. I simply asked how many fry i should expect from a guppy that has never had fry before. I dont recall ever asking that question before.
I was also told that when the light is off, the gravid spot is pink, when the light is on the gravid spot goes black due to the fry moving towards the light.
I just wanted that to be confermed. Sorry if anyone got the wrong impression.

Yes they missled you and I'm sorry. The number of fry varies quite remarkably. Balloon belly mollys who can have on the upwards of 100 I have heard I have heard can have just 1 ! fora new mother I would say 7-12 IMO but she could have less or more ... I say no less than 4 and no more than 18. Try some blood worms they greatly help and preggo fish or eggladen fish ;) . About the gravid spot they were wrong ... The eyes are black most of the time .. Unless or course you have a red eyed albino fish exct exct. I thikn what is happening is you can see through her scales with the ight on and you can't with the light off so her pink scales are where the gravid spot was ... Get what I'm saying ?
