That other website is the most valuable and reliable source of information out there. It is not a hobbyist site that regurgitates what the last five hobbyist sites say, it is used and maintained by scientists.
I just want people to know where you are coming from, one isolated incident that likely stressed fish when all of a sudden the heater died. I want them to be able to compare that to the information I provided, years of experience keeping platies in room temp, watching them breed better and grow larger than when in tropical temps, backed up by information used by scientists. Then they can decide which one has more ground to stand on, but by all means, keep repeating your incident.
