if you get mixed sexes, I'd say 3 to start as they will soon have fry swimming about, if you leave the fry in the tank you will have some die or get eaten, and have 2 or 3 survive. with all males their tends to be a bit of aggresion so mixed is best, plus, when the adults die, there fry are already growing so they are self-sufficient

yeah, all females could be an option. I cant remember if they can store sperm for 6 months like guppies do, and they would probably be pregnant after being in a tank of mixed sexs at the lfs

If that the case, ill just have to take the fry out or the other fish will eat them

Yes, in the picture the female is on top and the male is below, he has a pointed anal fin [gonopodium] and the female has a normal triangle shaped anal fin.
