How many cardinals and endlers could I keep in a 30 or 40 g tank?

Assuming I can find the endlers.. :S if I can't, are killifish a good substitute?

well tetras are a fish that come under the inch per gallon rule so 30 or 40 fish depending on the tank.

not sure about endlers and killi fish but aslong as there under 3" and slim bodied then you can use the inch per gallon.

Cardinals grow 2" but the 'rules' can easily broken. Eg. 40 neons in a 30g wouldn't be overstocked, good filteration and surface aggitation, with non aggressive fish.

Killifish aren't suited to community's IMO, though some people say they are fine.

So x-nay on the killies...

So from what I'm gathering, 10 cardinals and 10 endlers in a 30g would leave room for even more fish?

Don't know yet. Have any reccomendations?

By the way, is the fish in your signature a killi?

Haha just look at the stocking of my tank! Jayjays sin it in person, it looks alright, lots happening, i think its overstocked but i was given most of the fish, thought they would be better in my tank than at the lfs.

Go external on the filter :)

Indeed it is a killi.

Corrosive I did see your tank, didn't look too overstocked IMO.

I don't really know anything about filters, I thought I'd figure it out when I got the tank.... what's an external vs internal filter?

Externals are outside the tank, internals are inside, generally externals are better than internals.

How do tehy work if they're outside the tank? You put in a sump or something? If so, that sounds like a lot of work to me, having to drill the tank for the overflow and etc...

Inlet pipe, Outlet pipe, thats all you need. Just clips to the tank or if you have holes in your lid even better. The Fluval range come with all the accessories needed, unsure about other makes.

Yep, two pipes into the tank, one tanks out water and through the other, water is pumped back in :) not hard at all.
