Well i was going to make a topic like this about my 20 gallon long, but i guess i'll piggyback on your topic:

How many watts to heat my 20 gallon long to 78ish degrees Fahreneit?

its about 1w per L
but i normally pick the next size up

so in a 75L tank i would have a 100w heater.

and for Ogrt48 your 55 gallon is 208 liters so you would need 208 watts of power, or the next thing up like Die_Grinder said.

Thanks guys. Largest all the pet stores here had was 200w so thats what I have. I can't wait until tomorrow evening. I get my 55g, first time with anythings over 10g myself =)
