I am finding some rather large snails in my 10g and guess they (or one) rode along on the live plant I put in there when I set it up.

There are at least 4 good sized snails in there and judging by the way they were all over each other last night, I bet there will be more snails coming. :p So at what point should I start getting rid of them? I read they were good for algae and I don't have any algae eaters in that tank so have left them alone. Also, what diseases might they carry that I should be aware of?

good question, also i have another to add, are snails A-sexual, i have heard they are, and arent.... anyway i am starting to breed snails, they are food for my puffers, they are awesome to have, if you want to, or if you get tooo full of snails stick them in another bucket with water and lettuce in it, they dont need a heater, but require a water change every week or so.....

and if you get too much stick a piece of lettuce in the tank at night and in the morning it will have them all attached to it so you can scoop it right out.... hope this helps...

Thanks, Biz. The gouramis pick at the snails, but I haven't noticed it gets rid of them. I'll use the lettuce idea as a back up if I get overwhelmed. I don't have anything that eats them at the moment.

My mom sucks them out of the tank at her house with a turkey baster which also accomplishes an ongoing water change. :p
