Sorry for asking so many questions...

I'm finding I enjoy my ghost shrimp as much as my betta. It's so interesting to watch him eat and move about. I'd like to get more, but I'm not sure how many would be okay for the tank size (5 gallon?) I've got a lot of plants to give them hiding places from the betta, but thus far he hasn't seemed to notice the shrimp. I'm more concerned about their bioload added onto the betta's.

I was thinking maybe five or so?

shrimp add very very little to the bioload. Start with 5 and see how they do. You could probably add 5 more if youd like.
cheers

I'm glad you asked this- I just set up my 6 gallon today with my new betta in it, and he looks kinda lonely.
I think I'm gonna have to head out to find some shrimp!
I saw on another thread that someone was talking about cherry shrimp, which seem like a great option. Are there any other kinds of shrimp that are easy like cherry shrimp are, but in other colors? Just curious! :fun:

I think I've seen a yellow version of cherry shrimp. They were cute. I wish I could keep my betta boy with shrimp...I have a feeling they'd become dinner. He lived, very briefly, with an apple snail, and quite happily ate Poppet's antenna.

I wouldn't add cherry shrimp in with Bettas, they'll become lunch. Unfortunately I learned this the hard way...
