I'm wanting to setup a tank that I should be getting for christmas. I'm wanting to use a layer of JBL AquaBasis, with a layer of Coal Gravel on top. It comes in bags of 2KG and 10KG on AquaEssentials, i'm wondering how much I will need for a 30"x15" footprint, bearing in mind I only want it roughly 1" deep.

I used about 6kg of pea gravel to get about 2" depth in my 18"x12" tank so something around that area should probably cover you.

They do 10KG Pea Gravel in Pets at home for about £6, depends what effect you want though and what fish you want to keep, I only use the Pea Gravel for the Axolotl and Turtle tank, think it looks pony with decent fish and you can pick up a bag of Sand 10KG at Wyevale for £4/£5
