I used to keep my guppy colony with my juvenile peacock eels, but recently the adults have been disappearing one by one and since the eels are at 8 inches, and nothing else in the tank could kill a guppy, I'm assuming its their fault. So the guppies are in their own storage tub with a basketball sized pile of java moss. I have one adult female and 12 juveniles ranging in size from 3mm to 1.5 cm. If I just leave them to it, how many babies should survive to adulthood?

Also two other questions, how old do they have to be to sex them, how old are they when the color comes through, and how long does it take for them to become adults?

At this rate I'm going to have to buy more adults, but it took forever to get some strong healthy fish to begin with, and a lot of money spent on duds.

if they are seperate from the peococks or any cause of them dissapearing them with good water changes and conditions all should survive.
males will start to sex out at 6-8 weeks and sometimes later and can start to breed from 8 - 10 weeks (adulthood)so you might as well wait for them to mature rather than buying some more

You might have the occasional baby become a meal to your adult, but most of them should be perfectly fine. color comes in fairly soon....around about a month or so, you should start to see some very faint coloration on the fins.

One thing I found with mine (and I don't know if it's always the case) is that the males matured first and threw off the ratios in my tank, mum was being heavily bullied by the sons, I ended up having to separate her from the main tank it got so bad :( So if you've only got one female then watch out for this.
