i have a 96 litre tank so approx how many fish could i have, i know it depends on the size of fish etc but i am reading conflicting views on the net, please advise thanks x

what sort of fish do you want?
what type of filtration is on the tank?
how often do you want to do water changes and gravel cleans?
how often do you plan on feeding the fish?

i dont want big fish, i just want a peaceful community tank, what would you suggest?
im not sure what filtration is on the tank it is an internal filter i got it all as a package when i bought it, the juwel 96 record

I'm guessing the tank is about 30inches long x 12 wide and 15 high
When the filters are established you could have 10 neon tetras, a pr of dwarf cichlids (rams or something along those lines), 4 normal sized corydoras catfish (more if you have pygmy corys), and a pr of small labyrinths (honey dwarf gouramis or something similar).
This would be if you fed the fish twice a day and did a 1/3 water change and gravel clean each week. If you only wanted to do water changes every couple of weeks you would reduce the number of fish in the tank or cut back the amount of food being fed.
It also isn't a list of what you have to have. It is a guide and you can change the neons to harlequin rasboras, the rams to Apistogrammas, the corys to a small suckermouth catfish, etc.

Around about 25 adult inches of fish in total. Research what you are interested in and post back stocking suggestions on here. Bear in mind that all schooling fish need a minimum of 5 members to be happy, ideally more. This will cover most small, peaceful, community fish you will be looking at. I would advise you head to your LFS and find some things you like the look of (be realistic) then post back here once you do.
