Hi, My names Vicky, im 13. I recently bought a complete tropical set up. I have a 30 litre tank and I was wondering what the maximum possable amount of fish I could keep in the tank is? Thanks very much. xo :D

Well that depends entirely on what kind of fish you want to keep. First decide on the type of fish you want or are considering (let us know) then go from there. As for a 30ltr tank your options are going to be limited, try wieghing your options useing the the pinned topic here is a link. GOOD LUCK

Hiya, Something along the lines of guppies. That kind of size. Thanks.

You could have about 10 guppies in a 30ltr. Some people will say that 1 inch of adult fish per gallon is the rule of thumb, personally I think this so called rule of thumb is junk and causes more confusion and harm than good. Knowing how many fish that can go into an X size of tank comes with experience as there are many factor to consider not just the size of a fish. Guppies are a good bigginer fish, colorful, active, peacful and cheap.

Thanks very much for your help :good: I realy apreciate it. Vic xo

I'd say ten male guppies tops, start out with only a couple of fish and don't keep females unless you plan on having lots of fry to take care of. You may also want to look into small rasbora species, ember tetras or endlers livebearers (like guppies but smaller, keep only males) for your tank. You could easily keep a few algae shrimp in there as well once your tank has matured a bit, amanos and cherrys are the most common.

This is all assuming you have a decent filter and submersible heater, if you haven't already, check out the pinned topic on fishless cycling. You'll have lots of time to ponder stocking options and track down fish while you cycle. :good:

A male betta or a group of females would be fine, but they have limited tankmate options and it seems as though vicky was after some smaller fish. They're fabulous for small tanks though, I keep a few community bettas with small bottom dwellers.

IMO 10 guppies in a 30 ltr (7 gallons) really is pushing it. If they're females, they're going to need more swimming space, if they're males they'll need to get out of each other's way. Males would be the best option though. I would look out for smaller fish if you can find them: heterandrias, microrasboras, ember tetras, pygmy corydoras.
