How many fish in a 16g?

My mate has a 16g tank with 2 neonx, 1 glowlight, 1 phantom & 1 congo tetra.
How many can she have in it? And what elst?
She is pretty new to fish keeping!!

She shouldnt have just one or two of any of those species, all are schooling fish which should be kept in groups of 6 or more. The Congo tetra will grow too large for her tank and should definately be returned to the store, males can grow to nearly 5 inches if you include the long extensions on the caudal fin and should not be kept in anything less than 30 gallons.
I would recomend that she takes all but one species back to the shop and then keep a school of 10 of either the neons or glowlights with prehaps a few Corydoras catfish for the bottom of the tank.

I told her about keeping them in big groups but i really dont think she listened.
As for the congo, the girl at the LFS said it was a cargo tetra. Stupid cow!!
I will try and get her to take some back but she is pretty stuborn. She also recons she is getting a plec next week.

If it is a common plec (which it probably will be because they are extremely...no wait...TOO common) then it will be way too big for her tank. Maybe get her to look into a clown pleco or a rubberlipped pleco or a bulldog pleco, as I'm pretty sure those stay small enough. Better yet, try to get her to fix her first problem before she adds more fish.

The thing is, like i said she is stuborn. I called her earlier to tell her what CFC had suggested, and she basicly said ''well im not getting rid of all my fish coz i like them too much''. She really has no idea then she blamed the girl at the LFS for not knowing what she was doing.
I think i will give up on it otherwise we will end up falling out.

get a baby pleco and let is grow once it gets to big take it back and get a new 1 that is what i do b/c they r monster eaters

Funnily enough i did say she would have to take it back when it got too big. She said they were going to upgrade there tank after christmas.
I feel awful because i sold her the tank after she said she wanted some goldfish. I feel like its my fult that there is another person in the world now that doesnt care about the lifestyle of her fish. I need a spanking!!
