Hi all. Just a quickie! :hey: How many fish can my 30g tank hold max. I currently have 1 clown and 2 damsels, a cleaner shrimp and a small CUC. All are relatively small. If I can add more, then what do you all recommend? Or am I already pushing it? Thanks

They recommend 1 inch per gallon. Obviously you could have more fish if you made more water changes to keep the waste down. Check out the firefish. It's a cool little fish and it is fairly inexpensive.

For your 30G I would just get one

You could also get a small sand sifter like a diamondback Goby.

Remember the fish they grow :)

Have Fun !!!

Thankyou. Will check em out

Eh, no - that rule is for trops!

There is not a hard and fast rule in marine - but you can go with the figure of approx 4/5 smallish fish in your tank, really does depend on the fish

seffie x

ps your tank is approx 26 gallons

1 inch per gallon? I am well over stocked then lol.

In a 26-30g I would go with seffie and 4-5 small fish but be aware that tanks differ alot, if you aquascape well and keep a well maintained tank with a low dissolved nutrient level you could have more fish.
Each fish will claim it's own patch, provide more patches and more fish will be happy in the tank (to a limit of course) a chap near me has the most wonderful SPS tank I've seen and he has it so overstocked with various wrasse and tangs every time you look in all the fish have changed but by creating many living places and running some pretty extreme nitrate scrubs the tank works well.

The best rule in this hobby is go slow, build your stock up slowly, test regulary and use common sense. Oh and don't put a tang in your tank lol.

Well, first tell, what kind of clown do you have now? i think 6-7 fish in a 30 gallon tank would be overkill. thats a 36 inch long tank right? how much LR do you have? any other filtration? if you put that many fish in there plan on doing a lot of water changes.
