HI,

How do i work out how many fish i can have in my tank?

Probably a really easy answer and you're all laffin your filters off, but i dont know yet!

Cheers.

Its not that simple.

A good rule of thumb would be 1 inch of fish (excluding fins) per 1 gallon. But it depends on many factors. Obviously, a fatter fish will need more, while a thinner one will need less. Messy fish such as goldfish will need more space, as well as a excellent filtration system. Also, a 20 inch fish CANNOT fit in a 20g tank. So it all comes down to what fish you want. Tell us you tank size, what you want, and we'll give you advice on it ;) .

Hi, I have the exact tank as you have, I have had comments on here that I have too many fish in my tank and athough I know I will eventually need to remove the Parrot fish when they are older , they all live happy, none are aggresive or seem to get on each others nerves! And have been like this for months, I have never had any problems with my water either and touch wood never lost a fish as yet so if you choose you fish from the same shop and keep reminding them what you have and in what you keep them they should be able to tell you when to stop!

Good luck
