How Many Fish Can I Get In A 12 Gallon Tank

True flying foxes, Epalzeorhynchos kalopterus, will grow up to 6" long... the 1" per gallon rule only works on fish under 4", this bugger needs at least a 30 gallon tank. I suggest relocating him, mate. The bettas shouldn't be kept together, but I know some people who've gotten it to successfully work. You should have at least a 1:2 ration on the different sexes of platy.

My suggestion:
Keep the platies, add 1-2 females
Keep the tetras

Purchase a couple fish bowls and keep the bettas in there, they don't need filters or heaters and wil be content in anything from 2.5-10 gallons. You could even get a ten gallon and a divider to keep them in.

Consider getting a larger tank is you want to keep flying foxes.

~Peaches; out.

I would probably keep male betta's if they really come along and platys. But I'd give other fishes away because:

black phantoms and rummynoses would like to have a shoal and flying fox would also need a bigger tank.

It's common here in Finland to keep bettas in community and keep both sexes. How ever it's recommended not to put pait to smaller than 25 us gallons.

Bettas need at least a heater. Temperature for them should be over 25C = 78F. In too cold water bettas will become ethargic, listless and stay near bottom, don't move a lot. They might stop eating and low temperature also increase the chances of a betta getting ill.

You have it all wrong people, this ‘Betta2’ must surely be the mate of ‘Bettas’ we have been all been hearing about. See how their sigs differ.

But unfortunately my new friend, you have made the same mistake as Bettas. You are overstocked and have many fish that would benefit from being in larger groups of 6+.
