I now have two adult females and two adult males. Also their adolescent fry: five ready to mate "teenage" males and several "teenage" females in seperate tanks.

I had three adult females. One died after giving birth two months ago. :rip:

After the adult female died, one of reaming two females has been acting differently. This female has become more reluctant to mate or come out of hiding.

How do I encourage the hesitant female to come out and mate after two months? I really want the cautious female to move-on after her tank mate’s death! What is going on?

Should I introduce an eager :fish:  "teenage" male?

Maybe you could try putting a few teenage females in there since more females is always best. She probably liked having a friend to talk to about her "man troubles." Maybe she just wants another buddy.

Thank you. I have moved another female in the tank with the other two females (one of the two being the stressed female).

It appears adding another female is helping. :D

That's good. It's best to have more females than males to keep harrassment down. It means you'll have more babies as well, which may be a plus or a minus...
