Man I thought my typos were bad (I apologise if you are a younger member or if English is not your first language by the way)

30 drops I would of thought should be unlikely to give a 0ppm reading, unless your tank is an absolute monster 100gallon effort.

How big is your tank?
What test kit are you using?

sorry its giveing a reading of 1mg/l do i add more or not i am useing a intertpet test and my tank size is 180 littres

I had this problem too. Is their different concentrations of ammonia?

I just ended up putting in enough to get 5ppm regardless of the fact I thought I was putting in way too much. And everything worked fine for me

It took 7.5ml of 10% ammonia solution to get 5ppm of ammonia in my rio 180.

I would add 10 drops test. Add 10 drops test again and keep going until you reach your 5ppm ammonia. You really need to keep count of how many drops you've added in total so you can just add that many once it drops to 0ppm. You don't want to go through all the tip toeing gradually up to 5ppm with an ammonia test every 10 drops every time you add your ammonia.

The two tanks I cycled took 3 drops per gallon. I don't know nothin about no stinkin liters we use a real measurement system on this side of the pond.
