ive currently got 6 denisonii barbs in my 240L that are about 3 inches. i have store credit and was wondering how many of these fish would be suitable for this size tank....
i will be upgrading in a year or so all being well to a bigger tank. would another 1 or 2 be ok?
they share the tank with 14 Cardinal tetra, 9 Rummynose tetra, 1 SAE, 3 Otocinclus, 3 Polkdot loach and 2 L333's. the tank is filtered by a Rena XP3 and a Fluval FX5 so well overfiltered.....
are these barbs fast growers?
i know they can reach 6 inches so im sure they will be fine in my tank and even better when/if i upgrade but i just dont want to over do it!

I've got six in my Rio240, although mine are perhaps a little smaller, ~6-6.5cm. They have grown something in the region of 1cm since I got them about two months ago.

In my setup, I suspect it will not be the denisonii that determine when I have to start up Nelly's old tank (540l; 5x2x2 feet), but rather the slightly bigger canarensis and bakeri (which grow to same adult size as the denisonii).

I suppose this may give you a rough guide to how many denisonii you could buy and house temporarily, as I have six denisonii; four canarensis; three (fractionally smaller) bakeri and the two male Opsarius (~10cm, perhaps another 1cm or so left of growing) sharing all levels of the tank, along with my six Humphead Glassfish (which will stay in the Rio when the other guys get upgraded, as they deserve to be the centrepiece fish in what will hopefully become a peaceful tank).

At the moment not such a problem given that they are most likey juvenile 3inchers. They do get to 6" and these are the densioni (not the even larger P.chalukudensis). I have seen some comments on the net stating P.denisoni growing to 4", they dont they do get to 6". I have 10 in a very large tank, but given you are soon to upgrade at least 400 litres (5ft if possible)would be good for 8 adults.
