First off, i failed math...lol....my tank is six sided tank. Each side is 14 inches. The height is 30 inches. the length across is 24 inches in any direction. i need to know the cubic inches in order to determine the exact gallonage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

10,080 cubic inches based off of your measurements

edit...(I neglected to notice you said six-sided tank, lol)

It seems weird to me that is has more volume than a 50 gallon barrel does?

If you divide the hexagon into triangles and find the area of each triangle then multiply by 6 to find the area of the hexagon then multiply by the height that is the volume in cubic inches. So...

Area of a triangle=0.5base(height)

A=(0.5)(14)in(12in)=84in²

Area of the hexagon=84in²*6

A=504in²

Volume of a hexagonal prism=area of base*height

V=504in²*30in

V=15,120in³

Diagram:

15,120 (cubic inches) = 65.4545452 US gallons
15,120 (cubic inches) = 54.5022877 Imperial gallons

Your killin me...lmao..are you a math wiz or what...i would have never figured that out! grrrrrr...thanks though. that site is pretty kick ass too! thanks for all the inputs

I did just get an A- on the review test we had over geometry in math this last week. Also, based on your measurements I already knew it was a standard 65-gallon hex; I just wanted to show off my skillz.
