Ive recently bought a 350 juwel tank. :D so ive got plenty of space!

i was going to do it as a community tank but i was told i can put malowi ciclids in it. So i was thinking of forgetting that idea and putting some ciclids in it. how many can i have in the tank? does it matter that they are preditory - ie only have 2 or 3?

and also - what can go in with them and they wont fight?

thanks

Sorry Carina I am not familiar with that tank. How many Litres/gallons is it.

I have 10 Yellow Labs and 12 assorted peacocks (Malawi Cichlids) in a 70gallon tank. They are some of the least aggressive types and only grow to 4.5" but still look great and there are a wide variety of peacocks out there.

Some other cichlids grow larger and are more aggressive so they need more tank space.

hi i have the same tank and i have got about 15 cichlids in there, but i think you can have about 20 depending on what size they grow to.

That is a little bigger than the tank I memtioned. However cichlids need length not depth, so the shape of your tank is important.but I think 20 fish that grow up to 4 or 5 inches will be fine. As long as there are lots of caves and you are consistent with your maintenance.

ok thanks :good:

(And by the way on my first post i ment "cant" not "can" lol)

do i keep them on their own or are there some fish that can live happily with them?

If you are thinking of Mbuna (yellow labs etc) then they should not be kept with any community fish, in fact that is the case with most cichlids, especially African's. The only exceptions are 1 or 2 bottom feeders like Bristlenose Plecs or some of the Synodontis catfish species. These are pretty much the only fish robust enough to cope with the aggression.
