Depends on the bubbles per min and the size of the cannister. Different tanks require different amounts of CO2 to turn the drop checker green :good:

like egmel said, depends on plant load and size of tank & cannister.

what size tank is it?and what size is the cannister?

tank size is 120litre, the cannister is 500grams and the drop checker is dark limeade green

Some other things that were not asked for is WPG and plantmass. bubble rate means nothing really as different bubble counters produce different size bubbles and therefore my 1bps may = your 3 bps and vice versa. diffusion efficiency (which depends on diffusion method, circulation and in some cases diffusor position)

Also how long is your photoperiod and are you running 24/7 or using a solenoid. If solenoid how long is this on for.

In general use my tank as a guide:

Volume - 33USG (125Ltrs)
Lighting - 1.5WPG (T5 HO = equivalent to 2-3WPG)
photoperiod - 10 hours
CO2 - Currently running 24/7
Plantmass = 80-85% substrate coverage.
Cylinder volume - 600g - much cheaper than D&D 500s at £30+shpping for 3!! (Link at bottom)
Diffusion efficiency (Rhinox Ceramic, positioned directly opossite outflow, half way up side of tank) Filter 5.5 x tank volume.

1 cylinder running 24/7 at 1bps lasts me approx 4 months+ but I have 3 more in my cupboard so I am not worried if it runs out quicker

A bubble counter is a guide for the user as is the drop checker. The drop checker can give different readings dependent on where you position it if your circulation is not perfect.
