well just before birth she starts producing more eggs which she uses stored sperm to fertilise, so 4 weeks from the last lot and another lot will be due

WOW i thiught it was 3, as i said above, oh well you learn someething new everyday

its defo 7, my first guppy pair the male died a few days before she gave birth and i never got another and she had 7 consecutive broods she was virgin when i had her because she was bred by a friend that seperates them first signs of sexing

Yeh. but say in 7 months just move her into a seperate tank with the partner you want her with.

it would actually be quicker to mate the chosen male with one of the fry, as long as you seperate them on imediate signs then you have virgin females so you can be certain who is the father of the fry, how long have you had her?

i have had her for 5 weeks. this will be her first batch as she has neverbeen with other males. she could be pregnant by one of 3 males but the one in particular is stunning. he is black and purple with every fin is long flowing.

i have 7 females ready to pop. they are all massive and are due any day now. cant wait.

this is my first go at breeding guppies. always had big specimen fish. i have 2 tanks at the moment. 30g fry tank, and a 50g community tank which currently holds 3 male guppies 2 zebra loach a red tail shark and 3 female platys. also my brother has a cycling 55g tank with no fish so he will have some. my lfs says they will have some as they only get their fish from malaysia and the parents are from this shop so the strain is gauranteed. oh and i will deffinately separate the fry when they are old enough. will the males be ok without female around them all the time?

males will be fine without females there may be a bit more aggression but if you have at least 5 this should be kept to a minimum
