How Long Will It Take Them To Grow?

Hello, I found some yellow lab fry on a local forum and the owner said that they are 1/4-1/2 inches. I am just wondering how long it will take them to grow to about an inch to 2 inches. I am asking this because i currently have a 2-3 inch yellow lab and I've been looking for some more. So my questions are...

1.) How long would it take them to grow to about an inch?
2.)Do you think that they would be eaten by the 2-3 inch lab at the size they are at now?

1 with good wc and food about a month
2 defo if their head will fit in the mouth the rest would follow!

Although i'm still deciding whether or not i'm going to get them. If i do which tank do you think would be better to put them in for them time being?
1.) 10 gallon with a pair of Lamprolgus Brevis
or
2.) 29 gallon with a 3in. yellow lab female and blood parrot.

Forgot to ask earlier, but how big do they need to be before they can be sexed through venting?

Both tanks would be hard on the little guys, as even the shellies would give them a hard time with territories and any breeding aggression. You can sex them through venting when they are sexually mature which would be around 3" I guess. Also I have found that a good way to sex them other then venting is that the males have more black on their dorsal fins and they have a black vertical stripe down through their eye. Now the eye thing has just been a personal observation, I had 5 males and 12 females once and all 5 males had the stripe and the females didn't.
