i bought a pair of kribs today in the hope to breed them. i am ure they are male and female however the male went straight under a natural cave in the tank made out of bricks and the female is just in the corner. how long will it take for them to settle down and colour up a bit more.
i have been trying to tempt them out with a bit of food and it seemed to work slihtly for the female but the male isnt bhaveing none of it.
what elce could i do
thanks

I havnt kept kribs before, but just like adding any new fish they're going to be nervous and likly to hide away. Youve only just added them today.. give them time to adjust and settle down. It can take up to a few weeks for fish to do this.. the best thing (and only thing) you can do is to leave them alone untill they're ready. :good:

make sure you have lots of hiding places and a few plants or bogwood this will help them to settle in, they will be skittish at the moment as youve only just added them wait a few days and then try feeding them, to make them coulour up give them bloodworm and daphnia and a good quality flake and they should breed away
scot :good:

when i chose my kribs i picked from the tank the most active male and female who had manged to pair off in a tank of 40 or so.
needless to say after a day in my tank they where shivering like mad it actuly scared me coz i didnt know what was going off.
cool fish but can be aggressive esp when mating. what are you keeping them with and in?
they will easly take over a 2 foot tank if there is other fish in there esp smaller/weaker fish they will be bit todeath. watch out!

thanks for the info i have just seen the female do a shakey sort iof movement dance to the male and started gettin closer to him then the male sort of kissed her body. does this meen anything. how do they breed do they rub together i dont realy know lol. they are just that pair and a minnow as a target fish for when they breed. thay are in a 20 gal
thanks

That'll be them courting... They can do that often and then, all of a sudden, you find you've got eggs. Great to watch - excellent parents.
