You do not judge the time based on time alone Jeepgirl. Instead you monitor your tank's chemistry. When all ammonia and nitrite readings have returned to a solid zero after the last addition, you can add a few more fish. If you get an ammonia or nitrite excursion, you have added fish too quickly or in too large a number. How long has the tank been cycled and what cycle method did you use? Was it a fish-in or a fishless cycle?

Hello thanks for your advice I have had this tank up for 10 years I use to just have one knife fish in there but he died of old age he lived to be 13 years old, but I added some fish to it about five days after he died. All my test are good the ammonia , nitrite are at zero and the ph and hardness are good and the nitrate is around 20 or a little under it has always been hard for me to get my nitrate that much lower. When I did cylce it years ago it was a fish-in cycle.
