hi my molly fry are 4 weeks old now and some of them are getting quite big would it be ok to transfer some to my larger tank from the fry tank thanks joe
The general rule of thumb is when they are too big to fit in the biggest fish's mouth. Maybe a bit longer if you have aggressive fish. The main thing is to make sure ALL water stats are the same before transfering, otherwise you have to acclimate them like any other fish.
ok thanks for the answers guys just 1 more thing then ill leave you be lol my molly is pregnant again but with this lot of fry i am going to take advice and do the survival of the fittest ie leave them in my main tank but i dont want them all to get sucked into my filter as i think it will be to strong for them so is there any way i can weaken the filter so that it wont suck all the fry up if u see what i mean ?advice is much appreciated thanks joe
omg omg omg i have just finished watching a film then had a glance in the tank and well the mollie has had her fry which means i have even more fry so my problem is obvious i have to many lol ill give some to the lfs ALSO right at this moment in time i have no liquifry to feed the new born fry in i will not be able to get any till tomorow at the earliest will it be ok to feed them crushed flakes as a substitue till tomorow ???
ps thanks for all the replies ill use my net on the filter
And it's a good idea to feed them some kind of high-protein foods (Frozen, or Live is best, freeze-dried works okay also) too, to make them healthier and stronger.
