I've got a beautiful piece of oak with a lovely cave in it - really is exactly what I've been looking for. So I've boiled, scrubbed, soaked etc etc but the thing STILL WON'T SINK. It's now been a week and I'm getting impatient to start planting the tank.

I've never actually had oak in a tank before. Is it normal to take this long?

Not sure about Oak, but in general it can take a month or more to waterlog driftwood enough to keep it sunk. Certainly a week is not really enough time tbh. You will really have to soak it for longer, or you put it in the tank with a rock placed over a piece of it to hold it down for a few more weeks.

Thanks for that :good: I just needed to know that it's normal. It's actually started to sink a little in the last hour so it's now in the middle of the tank as opposed to at the top. It's the biggest chunk of driftwood I've ever had and I usually prefer to scape with stones so I feel like a bit of a noob.
