How long till DIY CO2 affects the CO2 level?

Hi all,

I added DIY CO2 to my tank this afternoon using 2 2L bottles and its just starting bubbling away so at least I've got that far! Now I'm thinking of a way to diffuse the CO2, I have put the tube near to the inlet of my power filter for now and I'd like to see how effective this is before trying any other methods.

So, how long should I wait till I can expect to see an increase in CO2 levels in my tank after adding the DIY CO2?? Is it a matter of hours or days?

To what extent depends on the diffuser, the bubble rate and the rate it get used or leaves the water.
