How long til fry can go into full tank?..I got 8 Guppy fry that arrived all of a sudden yesterday on return from holiday.......and all the panic that caused!!! ;) . I quickly set up a floating breeder and got the mum in pdq. I know I lost some whilst she was in the main tank. I then improvised by getting a plastic milk carton and cutting it length ways and floating it in the tank......and thats whaere the fry are now.......my question is how long til I can release them into the full tank....as you can see from my lists below I do have some unfriendly fish that like a little fish for tea!....thanks for your help....

It really depends on how big the other fish in the tank are. If they are just guppy sized to a couple inches long than it would be a lot less than if you had angelfish in the tank. My fry are a little over a month old and are almost half an inch.

Give it a month or two before you even think about releasing them into the tank.
The one that I have quoted is right!

Or you may separate the fries in another much smaller tankwith some plants.

You will be sure that the larger fish won't eat them!

yeah between 1 - 2 months depending on the size of the fish you allready have lol congrats by the way

hey, i have 4 fry in a breeding net. it has been two mounths but i didnt rlease them yet cause their still kid of small. even though i have a platy and mollie it seems as if the fry could still fit in the mollies mouth so i'll wait about 2 weeks or so. thats what u should do is compare if they look big enough go ahead but dont be in a rush you dont want to loose them. Also it depends what u feed them and how much most people get the food called first bites but from my expireience their too small i give them crushed fish flakes. i also feed them 2 a day some say 3 times but i think 2 is enough. Good luck

only release them when they are too big to fit in the mouths of any of your other fish (it may be more than a month or two in that case......)

i released all of my 50 frys into the main tank to make room for 50 more. they're doin just fine.... and they're growing fast.

I have my fry in my 20 gallon tank right now, and they are doing fine. I have lots of plants, and stones for them to hide under. They are pretty quick little buggers, and it is funny to watch them come out and be brave with all the other fish..lol!!!!! As long as they have somewhere to hide, they should be okay, good luck to you and your new ones!

Just make sure the fish are big enough not to fit into any of your other fishes mouths!

I would compare the size of the fry to the adults in the tank and decide

Remember, adults range from 1 inch to 3 inches (makes a big difference)
